Jail Industries Board welcomes new member
The Association of Washington Cities (AWC) recently appointed Theresa Hancock, Sunnyside City Council Member, as the association's new representative to the Jail Industries Board. On behalf of the AWC Board of Directors, Executive Director Stan Finkelstein named Councilor Hancock to succeed former Oak Harbor City Council Member, Sue Karahalios.
Councilor Hancock was appointed to the Sunnyside City Council on June 13, 2005 to fill an unexpired term. Prior to her appointment to the City Council, she served on the Sunnyside Planning Commission working on various annexations, the update of the Comprehensive Plan, and the proposed sign ordinance. Councilor Hancock is currently serving as the Alternate Representative to the Yakima Valley Conference of Governments and Chair for the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee.
Councilor Hancock's appointment brings the Jail Industries Board to full staffing. This is an exciting time of unprecedented growth in support for reentry-focused programs and the board looks forward to establishing new, and growing existing, partnerships for successful offender reentry.
Mission of the Jail Industries Board
