How do I upgrade my Internet Explorer browser?

Note: The following procedure requires you to restart your computer. It is recommended that you close all programs before proceeding.

To upgrade your Internet Explorer browser, perform the following steps:

1. Go to www.microsoft.com.

2. From the top horizontal navigation, click Downloads & Trials, and then select Download Center.

3. From the Top Downloads for drop-down menu, click Internet and then click Go.

4. Click to select the Internet Explorer version you wish to download.

Note: The Microsoft site will offer the version that is most appropriate for your computer. For this example, Internet Explorer 8 will be installed on a Windows XP computer.

5. To start the download, click Download.

6. Do one of the following:

To start the installation immediately, click Open or Run this program from its current location.
To copy the download to your computer for installation at a later time, click Save or Save this program to disk.

7. Follow the instructions as they appear in the windows.

8. To complete the installation and start using Internet Explorer, you must restart your computer.
